Akutu Irka is a Taino Grandmother from Kiskeya (Dominican Republic). She is part of the Taino survival movement, a group reasserting their existence after centuries of colonization. She is a singer-songwriter, shamanic healer, and ceremonialist committed to decolonizing Taino spiritual beliefs through community and one-on-one engagements. Her practice is supported by ritual and sound healing.
